The Great Debate: Repair vs Replace
Here is the biggest question we are asked all the time, “should I repair or replace my windshield?”. Legally speaking, any crack or chip on the driver’s side needs to replaced. Most companies won’t repair a windshield in that area due to safety concerns and liability purposes. Along with that, any chip that is located towards the center of the windshield is more likely to begin to spider out and expand the crack. The reasoning behind that is the middle of the windshield is more “flexible” and has a higher chance of spidering out and requiring a replacement. If the location of the chip is not in the driver’s view and is less than the size of a quarter, it is then repairable. Also if the crack is bigger than the size of a dollar bill it has to be replaced as opposed to being repaired.
